Choose your service. Many authors prefer to hire me to first edit for content, then again for proofreading. (I have clients on Fiverr as well.) I can not properly do both types of editing at the same time, although I usually catch a few extra issues when I’m reading for either purpose. I am happy to perform both services, but keep in mind that you may want to use two separate people because you can never have too many pre-publication readers. Typically proofreading should be the last stage of editing, so you don’t want to hire a proofreader until a copy editor and/or content editor has looked at your work.
Content editing
I will find plot holes, character discrepancies, and point out stilted or unrealistic dialogue. I’m also detail-oriented and analytical, and tend to catch things that have “fallen through the cracks”, such as continuity errors. No epic fantasy*, dystopian, sci-fi, or erotica (romance is okay). I will accept nonfiction if it is written for a general audience. No academic texts. I do not perform fact-checking services, but I can help you determine if your nonfiction work flows well and is easy for a non-expert to understand.
* I will accept some sub-genres of fantasy. Please contact me to find out if I can help with your story.
Proofreading -
I will proofread and correct your book, article, blog post, or document. I will correct grammar, spelling, and general (American) English language errors. The genre restrictions listed above do not apply to proofreading.
I do not do rewrites or revisions.
I do offer discounts to repeat clients.

What my clients had to say:
“I really appreciate all your help and comments, thanks for being such a great beta reader/editor/proofreader.” — Aimee Engebretson, author of Go to Class Naked: The Practical Guide to Online Learning
“Working with Amanda is a writer’s dream. She’s not only thorough, she cares about books as a reader. A solid narrative that not only makes sense but will engage and grip the reader are her primary objectives in giving comments or proofreading.
Having worked with a variety of editors and proof readers, I can’t say enough what a positive, supportive experience working with her was.” – Mohanalakshmi Rajakumar, author of Saving Peace and The Dohmestics
“I worked with Amanda for the first time on my fourth book, Man vs Cat, which required a final proofread. The turnaround time for the work was very quick (I had the book returned in less than a week). Amanda was very thorough, tracking any changes made to the documents and the feedback provided was also very helpful. I can fully recommend Amanda and would be more than happy to work with her again in future.” — David M. Brown, author of Man vs Cat
“Amanda did a fantastic job editing my historical novel. She was quick, thorough and even took time to fact check some words. I was impressed with her knowledge of historical facts. Her prices are more than reasonable and she is well worth every penny!!” — Candy Ann Little, author of The Unwilling Bride
