I made it through my second NaBloPoMo! My first was in 2011. This one was completed despite moving and travelling, and I’m quite proud of myself.
I never did write about all those things on my “to write about” list. Guess you’ll just have to wait for those posts.
I did manage to write about the possibility of reviewing products, then a week later, write about realizing I already have too much junk. So I probably won’t be getting new stuff to review unless it’s something we really need or were considering buying anyway.
As stressful as these challenges can be, I love doing them because it makes me write, even on those days when I would rather just say, “I’ll do that tomorrow.” Tomorrow usually doesn’t happen because by then I’ve come up with something else to write about.
Nov 14: Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I’d have to say I’m a night owl, although I don’t really stay up late much anymore. I’d still rather be up at midnight than have to wake up early in the morning. The three years I worked the graveyard shift were much easier on me than the one year I had to be at work at 6AM. Humans should not wake up before the sun comes up. That’s what the sun is for. To tell us it’s time to wake up. Eventually.

What is your favourite hour of the day?
Any hour there is food.
No, wait. I think I prefer sleep.
In all seriousness, I love both sunrise and sunset. The sky is gorgeous and animals come out to play. I think I prefer sunrise, though, just because it’s a new beginning.
Sunrise at the beach
Sunset at home
Sunset at home
Nov 6 Prompt: If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Yes, I do just randomly pick prompts from the list. Don’t you? I’m not good at following the rules. And, no, I wouldn’t change that.
Just one thing, huh? Probably my all-or-nothing perfectionism. Not only does it get in the way of starting projects, but most of the time, I can’t even see a way to do something piece-by-piece unless someone else mentions it.
You’re in the middle of a terrible argument, and everyone turns to you to help resolve it. How do you respond? How do you react to conflict?
This is actually the prompt from November 2, but I was at a loss so went picking through the daily prompts.
The way I see it, I have several options:
1. Turn around and walk out of the room.
2. Curl up in a ball in the corner and pretend nothing is happening.
3. Grab a water hose or a pitcher of water to cool everyone off. What? It works for dogs.
4. Use my talents for good rather than evil. I can usually see both sides of a situation, whether I agree or not. I’d probably separate the arguees to give them time to calm down, and talk to each of them alone, trying to validate their opinion while also bringing up the good points in the opposite argument.
5. If that doesn’t work, see #3.
Yes, I said I wasn’t going to do any more challenges for a while. Well, it’s been a while since June. *cough* What? It has. So, I pick a month in which I’ll be out of town for a week and I have a child’s birthday. Because I never have enough to do. And of course, I didn’t actually plan for this, so I have to go dig out my list of “things I’ll blog about when I get around to it”.
I haven’t done that yet, because I was busy planning for Halloween. Turns out, I am more creative than I thought, so I managed to put together costumes for my kids. Then last night, I had to sit and eat candy while watching ten episodes of Justice League on Netflix while the trick-or-treaters ignored my apartment. Today we had candy hangovers, which we remedied by eating more candy. Now I just need a long nap and some protein. Tomorrow I’ll start being productive.
