FREE PDF download of 12 Comfort Foods Plus 2 Bonus Desserts for all new members.

I’ve been using eMeals for a few weeks, and we love it! I particularly love the app with integrated shopping list. When you remove a meal from your weekly menu, you also remove the ingredients from your shopping list. Quick and easy. The recipes are quick and easy, too.

You can choose to get recipes to serve 1-2 or 3-6. You can also choose between several different eating options, such as Paleo, gluten-free, vegetarian, and more. Recipes use regular ingredients you’ll find in your grocery store. Nothing weird or complicated.

TOS Review: Bridgeway Academy

Bridgeway Logo photo bridgewayacademylogo_zps8c2d62cc.jpg

We were so excited to be selected to review Bridgeway Academy’s Marine Biology course! My eleven-year-old is fascinated by sea creatures, so I was sure he would enjoy the course. Bridgeway Academy is accredited and can provide courses for high school credit as well as transcripts. They also have elementary and middle school courses. They even have an Adult High School Diploma program!

The first thing that impressed me was our teacher, Carla Berg. She is amazing, and was quick to answer questions and clear up any confusion I experienced while trying to get my son set up on both the class site and the site for the homework. She was available by both phone and email, and I was very happy with our experience. We received email invitations each week with the link to log into the class session. This not only served as a reminder, but a quick and easy way to get to class without hunting through my inbox each week. I could certainly have done that, but I appreciated the invitation.

The Bug Chronicles Part 1

After dealing with my water issues, I thought everything would be easy for the next few months, maybe even years. (One can hope.) Then I glanced at the peephole in my front door and saw this:

It looked like a cork stuck in my door. Before I touched it and smeared it, it was actually a nice little spiral. I couldn’t tell for sure, but it seemed like dirt or something. I was really freaking out, and when I took some trash up to the dumpster, I stopped by the leasing office and showed the picture to the property manager. She was curious, too, and we set off with a screwdriver.

This is what we found:

Turns out it was wasp larvae. There were a lot of them in there. She dug several out and put them in a clear bottle to show the exterminator so we could find out what they were. Continue reading

Book Blast #Giveaway: Adela Arthur and the Creator’s Clock by Judyann McCole

Adela Arthur and the Creator’s Clock

by Judyann McCole

This book 1 of 5 for The Chronicle of A

Genre: Fantasy

To Who Ever This May Concern;

I wish I could tell you the contents of this book were purely fictional. That I, Adela Arthur, was just a normal sixteen year old from Portland and that dragons, giants, elves and mermaids were just myths. I wish these were legends shared from crazy old grandparents to crazy old grandparents around campfires. After all, that is what I used to believe.I never would have thought they lived on the other side of our mirrors in a world called Cielieu. But they do…I never would have thought there were humans, better known as Volsin that lived among them with the ability to create light from a single thought. But there are…I never would have thought I was one of them… But I am… I am the last Arthur and I was brought to the human world after a Volsin, filled with greed, began to strip the light from our kind. The human world was supposed to be a safe haven… but he’s found us and the only way to stop him is to go back to Cielieu and begin training as a student in the Elpida Castle of Light.Like I said I wish the contents of this book were purely fictional and not my life… Continue reading

Ever Thought About Starting Your Own Editing Business, But Aren’t Sure Where to Start?

I’m getting so many inquiries about how to start an editing/proofreading business that I’m either going to write a blog post or a how-to book, depending on how much information I can scrounge together. So, if you’ve had any questions about…stuff like that, post them here and I’ll do my best to answer them in…whatever I end up writing. If I wind up with a book, I will give some of the posters the opportunity to beta read the book (which will include all the information).

I’m not an expert, and I’ve only been doing this for a little more than a year, but I’ve been pretty successful at it, and I’m happy with the way my business is going. I’d love to be able to help others get started, and I find that I’m answering the same questions again and again. If you’ve ever wondered how to get started, please post your questions below.  I’m going to try to get my notes together this weekend, so if you can do it over the next couple of days, that would be fabulous!

Thanks for your help!

The Glister Journals: Bronze

Allison Anderson knows she’s a little different, but it hadn’t bothered her too much-until now. Moving away from everything she’s ever known to a new house, new neighborhood, and new school is bad enough, but it’s her first year of high school too, making it even more intimidating. She’s more aware of her social and physical limitations than ever before. And then there are the new people she meets: the tough-looking girl in her home room; the cute but dangerous-looking boy she first saw before school even started; the quiet, older girl who keeps to herself; the sullen-looking, seemingly isolated junior that doesn’t seem to trust or like her at all. Can she trust them? While the peaceful situation of her new home only amplifies the sound of her own doubts, she begins to learn that things are not always what they seem, and her world is turned upside-down by these new friends, two-legged and otherwise. Life soon becomes more complicated, and much more interesting! Continue reading
